The Logistics of Rice Export: Port Qasim to the World

Karachi Port Operations and Rice Logistics

For an international rice buyer, the "Origin" is only half the story. The other half is Logistics. At AWS Food Corporation, we understand that the difference between a successful trade and a costly delay lies in the precision of the export workflow at Karachi’s deep-water ports.

Strategic Location: Karachi & Port Qasim

Karachi is the heartbeat of Pakistan's trade. We utilize two primary gateways for our global shipments:

  • Port Qasim (PQ)

The primary industrial port for bulk food commodities. Its specialized terminals allow for faster loading of food containers and more efficient customs processing for rice exports.

  • Karachi Port (KPT)

The historic gateway with direct access to all major global shipping lines (Maersk, MSC, CMA CGM), ensuring we can find a route to even the most remote destination ports.

The Export SOP: From Field to Terminal

Our process is designed to eliminate risk at every stage:

  1. Consolidation: Rice is moved from our Punjab procurement clusters to our Karachi logistics hub.
  2. Final Inspection: A final moisture check and technical spec verification are conducted before container stuffing.
  3. Stuffing & Sealing: Containers are professionally stuffed to ensure air circulation and prevent moisture buildup during sea transit.
  4. Documentation: While the ship is at sea, we finalize the Bill of Lading (B/L), Phytosanitary certificate, and Certificate of Origin.

Transparency & Tracking

We provide our buyers with real-time updates and container tracking numbers as soon as the terminal gate-in is confirmed. Transparency in logistics is how we build long-term partnerships.

Incoterms Decoded

We offer flexibility for our partners. While FOB Karachi is standard, we highly recommend CFR (CNF) or CIF for buyers who want us to manage the international freight, leveraging our bulk shipping rates to save you money.
